'He Wants To Fight!' TUF Rival Urijah Faber Chats Conor McGregor's Next Move

Don't call it a comeback... that's what a lot of people say when it comes to Conor McGregor.

The UFC superstar hasn't fought since breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier in 2021. McGregor's back at it training after a lengthy road to recovery, itching for a fight in 2024. McGregor's return has been teased for a while, with many fans growing impatient and even doubtful that he'll ever fight again.

For Urijah Faber, he doesn't really share that same sentiment. 'The California Kid', who coached against McGregor on The Ultimate Fighter 22, believes we'll see his comeback story unfold sometime rather than not at all.

"I believe Conor is fighting," Faber told Middle Easy. "I actually do talk to Conor on a fairly regular basis, and I actually just sent him out a Rollbot. I’ve seen guys train, he’s very smooth with his jiu-jitsu. He’s obviously been taking it serious, he looks in great shape. I think he wants to fight.”

As for who 'The Notorious' will lock horns with is still a question. Of course, Michael Chandler wants the McGregor fight and the payday that comes with it, as he coached opposite of him on the newest season of 'The Ultimate Fighter'.

However, coaching TUF alone doesn't guarantee you a fight with McGregor, just ask Faber, who never fought the Irishman.

Still though, Chandler is a very viable option for McGregor in Faber's eyes. So is Nate Diaz, who is tied up with his longtime rival at one win a piece.

“Well, there’s a lot of hype around the fight with [Michael] Chandler,” Faber continued. “I think Chandler would love that and I think it’d be good for him as well.
“They’ve got that trilogy,” Faber said of Diaz potentially fighting McGregor again. “A third one needs to happen. I think they’re both kind of in a position where that fight would make sense for them monetarily, and with something to prove.”

Who should Conor McGregor fight in his long-awaited return?
